The APM2 has been an industry-leading air therapy solution for more than a decade, based in large part on its documented superiority vs. typical, roll-up treatment surfaces. An upgraded cover design and control unit now provide even greater immersion, envelopment, shear reduction, treatment flexibility, caregiver ergonomics and user comfort.Change instantly and easily from alternating pressure to basic lateral rotation with a single, recessed toggle switch. Requires no disconnecting or exchanging of air lines. Alternating Pressure or Lateral Rotation at the flip of a switch! The dependable digital control unit is lightweight and quiet. The easy-to-use, white multi-functional control unit provides simple, indexed comfort adjustment and a selectable audible alarm. A timed (20 minute) "Auto Firm" mode facilitates caregiving activities such as transfers, ADLs and CPR and then returns to its previously selected mode. Foam Topper: The exclusive Geo-Matt style foam topper is a high density, medical grade foam. The unique geometric design consists of over 800 individual cells, each of which acts individually to redistribute pressure, to reduce heat and moisture buildup on the skin, and to reduce shear to underlying tissues. This foam topper is 2" in height and includes the unique HeelSlope feature, designed to further reduce pressure for the sensitive heel area. Safety Edge Bolsters: The Safety Edge consists of a firm 2-part foam bolster whose inner edge contours under pressure to direct the patient towards the center of the mattress. This adds to patient stability in sitting and lying down, and helps prevent falls and entrapment between the siderail and the mattress. Air Cylinders:The inflation system consists of four urethane air cylinders in standard models that run head to foot underneath the body and the foam topper. These cylinders perform the alternating pressure therapy, and the lateral rotation therapy in the APM2 models. Cylinders inflate and deflate in a fixed 10-minute cycle. The cycles and inflation levels are designed to provide and maintain low interface pressures throughout the mattress, and to redistribute peak interface pressure points during the alternating cycle. The cover is bacteriostatic, fire-, fluid- and tear-resistant, cleanable, and replaceable.
